Headache & Migraine Care

While it may be common to experience headache, it is not normal.  However, many people live without having their headaches clearly diagnosed or properly managed.  Did you know that up to 90% of headaches brought up to a healthcare provider are actually migraine.  Unfortunately, they are usually misdiagnosed with tension type headache or sinus headache.

A few facts:

  • Migraine is more common than we think.  And migraine looks and feels different for everyone.

  • Migraine is commonly misdiagnosed as sinus and tension headache because neck pain and sinus fullness are common migraine symptoms.

  • Many people do not know they have migraine

  • Women are affected 3 times more than men, and 1 in 4 women in their 40s experience migraine attacks

  • There are MANY treatment options for migraine and frequent headaches.  You do not have to accept simply living with them.

Botox for Migraine & Jaw Pain

Botox has been an approved treatment for Chronic Migraine since 2011.  It is a safe and highly effective treatment for those with a high frequency of headache days and migraine symptoms.

Botox works by preventing the release of pain transmitters from the sensory nerves around the head and can start to decrease the severity and frequency of migraine attacks.  These injections are performed every 3 months and at least 3 treatments are needed to determine effectiveness.

Cost: There are 2 parts to treatment cost.  The cost of the Botox medication + the cost of the procedure. All private insurance companies will cover the cost of Botox for chronic migraine but may have some pre-requisites.  The procedure cost is $300 and is tax exempt.  Book a complimentary virtual headache triage visit to determine if this is a treatment option for you.
